About Price Codes and Means Integrator

Means Integrator uses Means item numbers and surrogate keys as the price codes for items in your database. This gives you the freedom to change your database organization while retaining a connection to the Means databases for updating purposes.

When you update data, Means Integrator looks for the price code. If it finds a price code that matches an item number or surrogate key in the Means database, it updates that item and any items linked to it. Price codes that do not match a Means item numbers or surrogate key, or that are not linked to a price code by a factor, are not updated.

For any item, you can remove the connection between the Means database and your standard databases by deleting the price code. You can create a connection by entering a Means item number as the price code in your database.

You can also create a connection to the Means database by using a surrogate key in a mathematical expression that represents the price of an item as a factor of another item price in the Means database.
